Wynn won the college's “SCC Idol” competition in 2013, and Edwards won in 2014. Both singers received a scholarship from the SCC Foundation.

A volunteer planning committee chaired by Lewis led the event. More than 150 volunteers from the community and campus helped out, including students from SCC organizations like Phi Beta Lambda, Student Veteran Organization and Phi Theta Kappa. Nearly 35 volunteers from UPS helped with set-up.
